After months and months of " Hey we should get a bunch of people over and hold a tourny some day" we finaly did
Today marked the first of what i hope to be many tournaments held here at SPN HQ
The basic set up we used was the best 2 out of 3 format with 8000 life points to start and 10000 life points max (to prevent any never ending duels)
Sadly Stace could not make it and Peter had to leave seconds before we drew names and Greg did not know how to play so they were unable to take part, However whenever we hold another one expect to see all three take part...
Here is a scan of the awesome tree i whiped up in a few seconds right before we drew names from a touqe
Anyways i know thats messy so ill post the results here
Round 1:
Match one: Oliver vs Corey, Two old school decks go head to head but Oliver pulls off the win in the end, I can't remeber for sure but im pretty sure this ended in a 2-1 victory for Oliver
Match two: Jarrod vs Kevin, Expert vs Rookie, Kevin put up a good fight but in the end Jarrod's deck proved too much for him as he picks up the win in one match to take the 1-0 victory (Kevin did not want to do it again so Jarrod advanced), but what a long match it was indeed...
Match three: Jordan vs James, Battle of the brothers, this one was close all the way to the end and was delayed due to pizza... however in the end I got a few lucky draws and picked up two wins to take this the 2-1 win, definetly the hardest matches i went through this time around.
Match four: Brent P vs Brent M, Battle of the Brents, another new commer vs an advanced player, Although Brent P put up a good fight it was not enough to defend himself from the furry of the Blue Eyes White Dragon and Brent M (Brent "Tank" Muirhead from the DK vids) took the 1-0 lead and with time running out Brent P was unable to finish a second match so "Tank" advanced
Round 2:
Match 1: Oliver vs Jarrod, Although he looked bad in the early going losing the first duel Oliver for some reason gave up the second match to tie the series 1-1 soon after Jarrod picked up a victory to snag the series from Oliver 2-1
Match 2: Jordan vs Brent, Three blue eyes vs one, however in the end my trap cards got the job done when in both cases Brent's life points were whiped out because of them, and I took the series 2-0
Round 3:
Finals: Jordan vs Jarrod, Rivals from the start, Red eyes vs Jinzo. Two power house decks battle it out for the honor and glory of the championship. Sadly this was not as dramatic as i had hoped as it was over fairly quickly (Jarrod would agree with this) as I took the series 2-0 amazingly fast...
It was a fun day of intenseness and it was really fun to see other decks for once, so i can sum this up with one word.... Awesome
Expect to see plans for Team Tournament soon
