Alright folks. You're all noobs.
Therefore, this is help for you.
Here's a simple guide for fighting games. Most of these moves are universal.
My awesome picture
This assumes you're facing the right side of the screen.

Okay. As you can see, the first up there is a Fireball. This is refered to as a "Hadoken" or "Quarter Circle Foward" (QCF). The button presses are Down, Down Foward, Foward. After you reach the foward button, you would press punch or kick. This is a simple move, most characters will have it. If it is a projectile, people will get pissed off if you spam it. If you were at an arcade, you might receive a swift kick to the ass if you turtle and just throw fireballs.
This can be done backwards as well, which is a spin kick. Down, Down Back, Back.
Turtling = Hiding in the corner blocking
The second is an uppercut. You bring the joystick (or thumbpad) foward, then to the down direction, down foward and foward. Backwards uppercuts are uncommon, but you might encounter em.
Yoga Flame is a 180. Named after Dhalsim, of course. You start at the back, and go Back, Down Back, Down, Down Foward, Foward. backwards yoga flames are seen often.
360's are tough. I myself suck at them. usually these are for up close, grappler characters. Sometimes you go clockwise, other times counterclockwise.
At the bottom i put an example of a super move. supers are only do-able if your super meter is either full or at level 1, depending on the game. It's 2 fireballs done back to back without pressing punch or kick after the first QCF.

These are the charge moves.
A sonic boom is holding back for 2 seconds, then foward and press kick/punch.
Flash kick is holding down for 2 seconds, then up and press punch/kick.
For most games, a super move system is available as i briefly mentioned.
Street Fighter 3 uses the double system. If you're playing as Ryu, to do a shinkuu-hadoken, you would need 1 level of super, then you do 2 QCF's and hit punch.
Marvel vs Capcom uses the 2 punch system. If you're playing as Ryu, to do a shinkuu-hadoken, you would need 1 level of super, then you do 1 QCF and hit 2 different punches (Light + Med, Med + Hard, Light + Hard).
So the double system will apply to some moves. for a super sonic boom, you hold back for 2 seconds, foward, back, foward.
So this was just a basic run through of fighting game commands so I can slaughter you all, but with a bit of challenge.
