Oh M. Night Shyamalan you’ve done it again, you’ve made me feel better about my script writing.
I’ve never been a fan of Shyamalan’s movies, but I heard this one was at least good for a laugh, but it wasn’t even good for that. So the basic plot is people in New York Central Park start killing themselves off, possibly because they realised they got cast in a M Night Shyamalan movie… Anyways, so as in all American movies since 2001 people start blaming (Southern accent) “the turrersts” (end Sothern accent) for bio attacks. So it’s up to Mark Wahlberg to… well.. I don’t know… dick around I guess… I guess Night decided to go the “lets keep everything as vague as possible” route on this one. Anyways so Wahlberg running around with no real destination in mind. Anyways they meet a dude who says it’s the plants, some believe him, some don’t, they briefly talk about bees going missing, most die, people stop dying, people start dying again, the move ends… That’s it… Yes believe it or not the twist in the movie is there is NO twist, they give you the answer 15 minutes into the movie and pretty much fuck about from there on out.
I’m disappointed because for a movie about a bunch of people dying there is very minimal death scenes, which in a movie which had a promising premise to create some of the most awesome deaths imaginable, sucks. Also they never explain what happens to the bees. The fact that I care more about the bees than anything else tells you how much this script failed to interest me… Until someone provides me a better explanation I’ll stick to Sabi’s “The flew into a volcano” explanation.
Tips on how to make this movie better:
Credit Zooey Deschanel somewhere on the box, or in the trailers… then at least people like Greg will go see it just because…
Rating: 3/10... No twist to this one, just a straight answer.
