Well since this "debate/rant forum" hasn't been touched in a long time, I decided to start something...
Ok so my ranting is about Christmas...I love Christmas...but it really pisses me off how every year Christmas seems to start earlier and earlier...
I walked into Superstore and they were playing Christmas music on Nov.10th! I mean what the fuck...it makes me so angry because then when Christmas actually comes around everyone's crabby and sick of Christmas. *Sigh* it's irritating. I think there should be a law "No Christmas stuff (music, decorations, etc.) until December." Sheesh, it already takes up all of December, but now it begins right after Halloween. Argh! Because right now I'm excited for Christmas (with all the snow and stuff) but it's still a month away...that's a long time to be excited...so my excitement will probably turn into exhaustion and irritation by Dec.20...
Christmas has become such a commercial holiday, all about presents, people forget what it's really about (like family and shit) not just presents. I like getting and giving presents, but I know that's not what it's all about. People just get too stressed out about everything...
Ok well I better stop now or I may just continue ranting forever...
Just wondering if anyone else feels this way

They may as well change it to "Get free stuff day" because all people seem to care about it "ohh what am I getting this year?" or "what should I get them?"Christmas should just be taken off the calendar, all it does it plug up the malls and empty people's wallets.

I like the feeling of December. The time around Christmas is generally a nice feeling because it has usually been a pleasant time in the past. That feeling in itself is worth the annual wait.
Lots of children who are younger see Christmas as "present time" because they are just young. It can't really be helped. When they see it, experience it, they are going to remember it and expect it. I did, and you probably did too.
I don't like giving/receiving presents because I'm generally too lazy to find out what everyone wants and get the best present in the world for everyone I know and then assure them all they don't have to do a thing for me. That's too troublesome.
A present is designed as a gift for someone. Not as means to balance said person's actions for you.
It's designed as a time to be happy. So regardless of the technicalities, be happy. :D

Ya I still love Christmas...you can't hate it because of what it's become, you have to love it for what it's meant to be, that's the whole point. Together we can bring Christmas back guys! Haha...k maybe not...but at least we can enjoy it in our own ways, the way it should be I actually love giving presents, especially when it's something special...and I love getting presents too, I know that sounds greedy, but I do...the best presents are those that are well thought out...or homemade oh and I like sending and receiving christmas cards...so you can expect a card from me...haha...though I don't know your addresses....

Oh joy... excuse my lack of enthusiasm but nothing will ever change my mind about Christmas, I have always hated it as long as I have had the ability to think for myself and I plan to keep being Scrooge until my last breath... I'm sorry, I am thankful for the thought but overall I still hate this whole season. It's like for one month and one month only people decide that it is time to be all holly and jolly to eachother when infact they should be doing that all the time, I for one choose to me a unhappy grump all 12 months and 365 days of the year.

I enjoy Christmas. I don't get super hyped about it, but it's a nice thing to look forward to. Yes, it is very commercial, but there's nothing you can really do about it. For a while now I've been thinking of what I will get people for their presents. I enjoy hand-made gifts, so I will try to do that for as many people as possible.
Plus, Christmas is when everyone gets together, eats, hugs, and is happy, yaaaay.

I enjoy seing my family pretent to like eachother for one day of the year aswell (except that one year that ended in yelling, crying, and fist fights), plus the dinner is nice, I just don't like the whole waking up to open stuff I have no room for, luckly this year my mom can't aford anything, nor can my sisters so I don't really have to worry about it, I already know Gregger and his mom got me something, but that shouldn't be too much.

Totally agree, Christmas has gotten far too preachy, and too god damn commercial! I say out with Christmas in with Hallowe'en. Candy from complete strangers, who can complain?
